Episode 629 Saving the Ice

Vinton Cerf (widely considered the father of the Internet), Robert Axelrod, a professor emeritus, U. of Michigan and a specialist on cooperation, work on the committee with alex Luebke promoting research into a new method of preserving ice sheets in the Arctic and Antarctic. They describe this approach to Peter Wadhams, a specialist on Arctic ice. It will involve pumping water from below the ice sheets, so they rest on solid rock or soil and will not slide so fast into the ocean, for at the current rate this sliding may raise sea levels by ten feet.
